Goodbye and thank you for 18 years IDCV

Dear fellow dancers, teachers and friends of the IDCV,

with sadness in our hearts, we have to inform you, that Covid-19 forced us to make the decision of closing our dancing school after 18 very successful years in the Irish Dancing world. This was by no means an easy decision for us to make. We have thought about many possible ways to keep the school going, but after weeks long internal discussions, we could not find a solution that would work for the current situation.

Looking back to our 18 years of running the IDCV, we can definitely say that we are proud of all our dancers, who achieved some amazing results at competitions. Our school won many titles as European Champions and Austrian Champions, and we even had dancers recalling at major competitions.

We have found comrades and close friends, and in some people even a second family. We have seen dancers grow from children to young adults, and had the pleasure to form them and their life as well.

We organised many Irish Dancing events in Vienna including our Vienna Feis, the Mainland European Oireachtas, CLRG Teacher & Adjudicator Exams and many of our Irish Dance shows (Irish Dance & Music, The Magic Crown, Timeline,…)

We want to thank all our dancers and our fellow dancing schools and their teachers for the cooperations, the good relationships, the events organised and overall for the amazing time we could spent together.

Further we want to give a special thank you to Aoibheann Gillen, Olive Hurley, Mary McElroy, David Geanney and to all the people who guided us, especially in the first stages of our dance school, and who have helped us grow into the teachers that we are today.

Last but not least, we hope that everyone stays save during these times now!

We wish you all the best,

Harald, Ursula & Melanie
